Weekend Availability and Full Moon Meanders...

We're delighted to be featured in a new book by nature and travel writer Jini Reddy, who joined us last year for one of our monthly Full Moon Meanders.  Jini's Wild Times book launches later in October; we haven't seen it yet but are already very excited!  The London launch is inked into our diary - Jonathan Porritt is one of the attractions, as is a catch-up with old friends and a visit to a city that has changed so much in the handful of years since we've left.

Full Moon Walk 17 September + Stay in Woodpecker Yurt - sorry, Woodpecker now booked!

Sorry, our weekend slot in Woodpecker has now gone.  But if you are local(ish) you are still welcome to come and join us on the full moon walk if you fancy it.... An opportunity not to be missed.  We still have a vacancy in Woodpecker yurt for the weekend of our next Full Moon Walk - 16/17 September.  If you get in quickly, you could enjoy a last chance to stay in Woodpecker before she leaves us for a new home at the end of the season and join our lovely full moon walk on Saturday evening.

Traditional Mongolian yurt for sale - now sold from the end of the 2016 season!

We're pleased to report that Woodpecker yurt has now found a lovely new home and will be leaving us when we close at the end of the season.  Thank you for all your interest!  Our new Shepherd's Hut comes into use in 2017 and Yellowhammer yurt will become our new "family of 5" yurt to replace Woodpecker.

August late availability!

We've got a couple of slots in late August for anyone who hasn't managed to get away or needs a refresh before back to work/school.  Barn Owl (great for a coupl or family of 3) is available from Tuesday 30th for 2 nights and Swallow (couple/family of 3) is free from Tuesday 30th for 3 nights.  After that, it's mid-week gaps only in September until Friday 16th - we've had a weekend cancellation in Woodpecker so that's now available for our Full Moon Walk on the Saturday night (fab if you haven't tried one!).

Pink Grasshopper!

Look at this amazing pink grasshopper that we found in the meadow at the weekend.  It's a very rare creature indeed and we were very excited to spot it.  It feels as though our work on developing the meadow habitat is paying dividends this year, with the barn owl regularly seen hunting voles, the swallows nesting for the first time on the gable end of the barn and now a pink grasshopper.

The Shepherd's Hut

We are very excited to have taken delivery of our new Shepherd's Hut.  It will replace Woodpecker yurt for the 2017 season, which is being retired to a Portuguese mountain to live out its final years, having given excellent service.  The Shepherd's Hut will sleep a family of 4 (children under 12) and Yellowhammer becomes our new family of 5 yurt.

June Full Moon Walk

What a fabulous Full Moon Walk we had on the summer solstice!  A lovely group of people and a wonderfully clear, warm, evening after a solid morning of heavy rain.  Walking from the Coastguard's Cottages on Dunwich Cliff Tops, we crossed the heath, cut through Minsmere (and had a look at the bird life from the Island Meare Hide) across to the Sluice and then back up the beach to the sight of the moon reflected on the water.  As we were celebrating not only the solstice but also Nick's 60th Birthday (on that day) we finished with a glass of Champagne and toasted life!  What could be better?
