Supermoon Night Walk 9th September

We're taking advantage of a Supermoon on the night of Tuesday 9th September to enjoy the delights of night walking around the quiet lanes and paths of Suffolk, taking in estuary and beach along the way. This will be our third year of full moon night walking - the past couple of years were great fun and enjoyed by a wide age-range. If you haven't walked by full moon before (and, frankly, even if you have!), this is an event not to be missed, as experienced night-walker and travel journalist Dixe Wills shares his enthusiasm and knowledge of the Night.

Supermoon Night Walk + Pizza Oven

We're really exciting about our full moon night walk - led by Guardian travel journalist and author Dixe Wills - on the night of 9th September. We'll take in heaths and estuary as well as the ever popular seaside towns of Southwold and Walberswick. Have a look at the Groups and Events section of the website for more info - and get booking!
And the pizza oven is now up and running, so if pizza-making is your thing, we've got full instructions for getting it up to heat, all the equipment (a pizza peel and a pair of bellows!) as well as pizza dough recipes! We're planning to light the oven a few times over the summer holidays and make pizzas to order for whoever is here and fancies a social evening round the pizza oven - or if you are feeling adventurous (and it's really not that challenging!) feel free to bring or buy your own dough-making ingredients and toppings and get stuck in! The pizzas cook in a couple of minutes so the best toppings are the conventional tomato paste as well as mozzarella or cheddar cheese and herbs, rather than anything that needs a longer cooking time. We've got full instructions and dough recipes here and are always happy to advise!

Pizza Oven is Go!

It's official, our lovely pizza oven is finished and has been formally put through its paces by our first set of guests at the weekend (thanks Claire McDonald and co!).  It passed with flying colours and whilst we've still got a bit of work to do landscaping the area around the oven (and putting a roof over it to keep the rain off), it's up and running for any of our guests who would like to rise to the challenge....

Full Moon at the yurts...

One of our lovely guests who stayed at Easter took this amazing photo during a clear night with a full moon (many thanks Mark Whiter!).  I thought it was worth sharing with the wider world and doesn't really need much more saying about it.  I couldn't miss the opportunity, though, to put in a plug for our Full Moon Night Walk event in September.

Bell Tent is open for business!

Our brand new Bell Tent is up and running for the season and looking gorgeous!  Bell Tent is giving Barn Owl a run for its money on the romance stakes - one engagement already with more celebrations in the pipeline.  Remember that if you have a special occasion to mark you can order a bottle or half bottle of Adnams champagne to be nicely chilled awaiting your arrival, beautifully presented along with two of our vintage champagne glasses.

Suffolk Walking Festival Accommodation!

We love exploring the lanes and footpaths and are looking forward to the 7th Suffolk Walking Festival, running from 10th May to 1st June.  We're very handily placed for Walk number 31 through The Saints (well worth exploring!) on 19th May and number 32 through nearby Harleston.  You can have a look at the Festival Programme here - there's stacks of different walks for all tastes, so if walking's your bag, why not sign up?

Spring Glamping!

Those of you who have been following us on FaceBook will know that we've had a busy week!  We've had the best weather for putting up all 4 yurts and have enjoyed being out in the glorious spring sunshine.  We've been sowing seeds and planting potatoes in the veg beds, ready for the new season and are really looking forward to welcoming our first guests at the end of March.  The Easter holidays are looking nicely busy, with lots of returning guests, which is always encouraging!

Special Offer Glamping Breaks!

We love seeing our guests here and, frankly, we love seeing them here for longer than a weekend, so we've taken the bold step of reducing prices (outside the high season) to encourage you to stay longer.  Have a look at our new prices and be tempted, very tempted!  If this year is anything like last year, May will be glorious (at least in Sunny East Anglia) and you'll be kicking yourself if you've failed to take advantage of our amazing low prices.
