Supermoon Night Walk (2014) - details for 2015 coming soon

Dixe Wills' Guardian profile

2014:  We're taking advantage of a Supermoon on the night of Tuesday 9th September to enjoy the delights of night walking around the quiet lanes and paths of Suffolk, taking in estuary and beach along the way.  This will be our third year of full moon night walking - the past couple of years were great fun and enjoyed by a wide age-range.  If you haven't walked by full moon before (and, frankly, even if you have!), this is an event not to be missed, as experienced night-walker and travel journalist Dixe Wills shares his enthusiasm and knowledge of the Night.  A mini-bus will transport us from Ivy Grange Farm to the start-point on the estuary and collect us at the end of the night, enabling participants to enjoy a circular walk across a range of different terrains.

Our Night Walk event on Tuesday evening starts with a welcome around the campfire with a communal meal (vegetarian) and an opportunity to meet your fellow Night Walk participants. Author and travel journalist Dixe Wills will give a brief introduction to the joys of night walking and the navigational skills needed to ensure you don't lose your way in the dark!  A mini-bus will then come to take the group to the starting point for the walk.  During the walk, which will be led by Dixe Wills, you will be able to take a turn at map-reading by moonlight (if you would like to) and leading the group - using all your senses to help you!  The walk should take about 4 hours and be relatively easy and level for anyone of moderate fitness with decent footwear.
