Welcome to Ivy Grange Farm Barn
The Barn (and a yurt!)
The newly converted 17th century barn offers luxurious and cosy accommodation with 2 en-suite double bedrooms and a 3rd bedroom with a bunk bed, a single bed and adjacent family bathroom. The front door opens into the spacious open-plan eating/living/kitchen area with a wood-burner, sofas, easy chairs and dining table. The kitchen has an electric range cooker with ceramic hobs, plenty of cooking equipment, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle as well as condiments, tea, coffee etc. There's plenty of games here as well as a cosy fire to watch, but if you need more entertainment then bring your laptop, download films or your favourite TV programmes and make use of the projector (compatible with an HDMI port) and Bose blue-tooth speaker.
Outside, you'll find a large south-facing courtyard with benches, an undercover eating area and BBQ, leading through to an area of meadow where there's a large campfire pit and pizza oven with bench seating and oak tables under the pergola. Enjoy outside table tennis or take the bikes out to explore the quiet country lanes - 3 conventional bikes (free to borrow) or 2 e-bikes which can be hired when making your booking (£20 per bike per stay) - get straight out on to National Cycle Route 1, which runs past the front gate!
The Barn is great for couples and larger family/friends groups, accommodating a maximum of 7. It's a great venue for special celebrations and - for extra guests - you can also hire Barn Owl yurt, during the months of April to September. We're always happy to see younger guests here and can provide travel cots, high chair, baby bath etc. For extra guests, why not book the double en-suite B&B in our 17th century farmhouse, available throughout the year or - during summer months - Barn Owl yurt, which sleeps 3.
**SUMMER OFFER - for mid-week stays June to September - secure exclusive hire of beautiful Barn Owl yurt for up to 3 people (double and single) with sole use of the 3 acre meadow for £130 per night, with a minimum 3 night stay - Or try the double en-suite B&B in our 17th century farmhouse, available throughout the year.** We only take bookings for the yurt if there's no one staying in the Barn, to ensure exclusive access to the meadow and all outside facilities, as well as bathroom facilities accessed through the Barn. Contact us direct email@example.com or 07802 456087 to check availability and to book the yurt or en-suite.
We aim for your break to be as environmentally-friendly as possible and offer collection by prior arrangement from our local station at Brampton, undercover secure storage for bikes and an EV charger.
The Barn has underfloor heating, bathroom radiators and powerful showers plus a full-sized bath in the family bathroom. The front part of the barn with the living/eating area and en-suite master bedroom is all on one level, with steps down to the lower section with the second en-suite and singles bedroom/bathroom and utility room.
Our 24 solar panels, battery store, electric bikes and EV charger (supported by a Plan for the Future Grant from East Suffolk District Council) means your carbon print whilst staying will be extremely small! We have no oil or gas on site and use environmentally friendly and sustainable products throughout. Being "Green" and especting the environment is important to us so we're delighted to have been awarded the Suffolk Creating the Greenest County Green Tourism Award 2023. Put out the flags!!
Getting here: there's parking for 4+ cars and we have an EV charging point as well as two electric bikes and 3 "conventional" bikes and secure storage if you want to bring your own bikes. We are situated on the National Cycle Route 1 and are always keen to support guests getting to us by bike or public transport, with collection from the nearby station of Brampton with prior notice (let us know when booking).
Prices start at £160 per night with a minimum 2-night stay for much of the year - to check availability and prices, use the calendar on the Book Now page to enter your chosen dates and find prices. Do give us a call if needed on 07802 456087. Sorry, no dogs on site - they don't get on with the wildlife living in the meadow! Currently there's a young hare taken up residence...
Having previously run a successful yurt holiday site, we think we've honed our understanding of what guests are looking for from a relaxing countryside break. We've been fortunate to find a wonderfully quirky artisan builder who is on the same wavelength as us and we think you'll appreciate some of the fun design elements you'll find around the place. Between us, we've had great fun with the conversion of the Barn whilst at the same time ensuring that it offers comfort, warmth and artisan-chic design alongside being as environmentally friendly as possible.
The 24 solar panels and batteries, wood-pellet boiler, LED lights, double-insulated walls, double-glazed windows, EV charge-point, bikes, some nifty up-cycling and a 3-acre meadow managed for wildlife and carbon sequestration, all combine to offer you a break with an almost non-existent carbon footprint. And, of course, no stay is complete without trying out the (heated) woodland showers!
We're fortunate to have been supported in our sustainability work by East Suffolk District Council's Plan for the Future grant.
Guests are often happy just spending time relaxing and enjoying all the site has to offer. We love cooking and nature and so you'll find these passions reflected here: release your inner Bear Grylls and try out the BonFire cooking equipment over the large fire-pit (or simply toast the marshmallows over the campfire embers...); make use of the BBQ or the wood-fired pizza oven, which will keep the kids busy making the dough, tending the fire, picking the herbs to sprinkle over the top (there's usually oregano, garlic chives, rosemary, mint and sage) and finally getting to grips with the pizza peel all to create the best pizzas you've ever eaten!
Or pull out a deckchair and choose from our carefully curated selection of books and relax in the sunny courtyard with the buzzards mewing overhead. Our take on all-comers at outdoor table tennis or badminton. In the winter months pull up an arm-chair by the log-burner, and choose from a selection of games. Take a stroll around the nature trail and see how many moths/hares/ farmland birds you can spot. Or send the children out to explore with the butterfly spotting chart and let them discover the treehouse in the lower copse; they'll be gone for some time!
Ask us about the full moon walks we run every month - you're welcome to join us ! We've been running them for 10 years now and have a good selection depending on the time of year... nightingales and glow-worms as well as crisp winter walks with amazing moon shadows.
